SNIPER: GHOST WARRIOR REVIEW (FOR PLAYSTATION 3):

Sniper: Ghost Warrior is a great first-person sniper game for those people out there who wish to break away from the Call of Duty-style action and gameplay to become a sniper.... a very good one at that!

You play Sergeant Tyler (and, in several sections, Sergeant T. Wells), a Ghost Warrior trained by a special unit of the U.S. Army, that specialises in (you guessed it!) training ordinary soldiers to be a Ghost Warrior (a special elite force made up of snipers).

On your first proper mission (there is a short tutorial at the start of the game to get you to grips with the controls of Sniper: Ghost Warrior), you are dropped off in the middle of a jungle to attempt to take out General Velasquez, a ruthless, cold-blooded killer who runs the fictional island.

You start off in the middle of some ancient, island ruins. You then set off through the ruins, taking out any enemy resistance along the way. You then regroup with a fellow soldier, Sergeant T. Wells (who you will get to play and some stages), and together, you find the right sniping spot, over-looking the massive compound below you. And within the twists and turns of the compound, is General Velasquez, your target. He appears in a window of a small building, and, after the go-ahead from Base, you take the all important shot that could change the future of the island forever.....

The good:

1) The weapons feel good and your character holds each weapon differently, depending on its virtual size and weight.

2) The scenery is great, lush, and vibrant.

3) Your character has a shadow that is in sync with your character's movements and is smooth, not pointy like some games.

4) You can see your feet in-game.

5) The storyline has a few good twists and turns.

6) There is no shortage on checkpoints.

7) The 'bullet-cam' is a great new addition to the gaming world (the closest thing to Sniper: Ghost Warrior's 'bullet-cam' is Wanted: Weapons of Fate's (see previous review) 'slo-mo bullet camera'), which allows you to watch as your perfect bullet travels into your enemies head/face, with a satisfying squelch and a shower of blood!

8) There is a variety of different weapons out there in the jungle, ranging from pistols, to long and powerful sniper rifles.

9) The story is long enough to satisfy you, but not too long to bore you out of your mind!

10) The multiplayer is very good and engaging. It provides fantastic long range firefights, as well some intense short ones.

11) At one point during the game, you get to man an MG on top of a tank.

12) The PlayStation 3 version of the game, although it came out later, includes exclusive content, such as bonus missions, multiplayer maps, and additional weapons.

The bad:

1) Even in the cutscenes, your character runs extremely awkwardly... and therefore amusingly!!

2) The makers of S:GW seemed to have missed an opportunity to make a Just Cause 2-like sandbox, where you go around the massive island, taking up any challenges that arise.

3) A few glitches can be seen throughout the game.
