Take your time. Plan, execute, and snipe. Based in WWII

User Rating: 8.5 | Sniper Elite PS2
There are few games out there that try to put all the realism and abilities of actually firing a weapon into play. Mostly because this causes people to be annoyed when they can't get it right or impatient because of the time/effort required to do the actions.
I hadn't played this game in a while, so I decided to dust it off again and play it on my PS3. It has much quicker loads this way, which helps when you want to restart or load a saved game.

The basic premise behind the game is that you're an OSS agent/sniper in WWII who's trying to fullfill objectives and aid the WWII effort.
In Sniper Elite you can control how much "realism" you want to use. All the tactics/nuances of firing a sniper rifle are included. Bullet drop due to gravity, windage, steadying your breathing using "empty lung" techniques, etc. When looking down the scope you have to adjust for how far the target is, if he's moving, everything.
Of course you can turn certain realistic effects on/off depending upon how difficult you'd like to make it. And once you do get the hang of it, your shot will be rewarded with a bullet view all the way from your gun to the target's head/body.
When the game came out you could find plenty of people on PS Online to play with, but now, the game is forgotten. At the time the online portion was quite groundbreaking. When playing Single Player Mode or Co-Op with someone sitting beside you even though you were technically offline, your scores would be uploaded to the server and compared globally to other players for "rack and stacking."
The Multiplayer mode was interesting as well, you could sneak along sniping or engage in closer combat using your other weapons (pistol, sub-machine gun). A lot of different options were available.

For those enthusiasts that want to try out some good ol' realistic sniping and have the patience for it, this is definitely an oldie but goodie. It's a shame I haven't seen too many other games like this out. And trying to incorporate all the factors required for "harder" sniping into modern games would be pretty difficult. Most games now just simplify the process, especially when it comes to the Multiplayer Realm.
