Sky Force Anniversary Review

User Rating: 8 | Sky Force Anniversary PC

This game is beautiful to the eyes. Very solid movements, animations and sounds, if you enjoy the shoot'em ups, then this is a must have for any fan. You go through 8 Different Levels with increasing difficulty. Extreme Bosses, that are sometimes repetitive. You may fight the first boss, only to find out that in the second level, you have 2 of the same craft to fight against now. But that is where it stops, you will never have more than 2 of the same craft to fight against. The level design is very immersive, they put enough challenge for you without cluttering your screen with all kinds of missiles and beams.

Soundtrack is nicely done, catchy and fits well with the game. Every sound and music piece goes well with each of the animations and movements.

The issue is the replay, Most people will get bored grinding it out with its upgrade system. In each level as you destroy enemies, stars will drop out which then you will have to collect, sometimes in order to get all the starts you may risk certain dangers to your fighter; however, with the power ups in the game (Magnet) it makes collecting them easier, thus upgrading easier. Does it get old after awhile? Yes and No, each level comes with 4 medals to accomplish, which in turn unlocks a more difficult version of that level, you have normal, Hard and Insane. Each giving out more rewards than the one prior. However, if this is not an issue for you, then its not that big of a deal.

Gameplay itself is addicting as I dont know what. Something about gracefully dodging the shots and just destroying your enemies is so satisfying. Maybe you go through the level without being hit? or perhaps destroyed 100% of the enemies, or rescued every survivor!? Their is so much you can do throughout the level and replay over and over. You have upgrades from Missles, Lasers, and wing guns , to a megabomb that clears the area around.

Multiplayer is not all that appealing, you must have a second USB controller plugged in to play comfortable, otherwise one would have the controller, while another keyboard or mouse.

I strongly suggest this game to anyone that enjoys shoot'em ups, it is in vertical format, and has a Leader board feature to test yourself against the world. My personal Score for this game? 8/10
