It's story is set in a remote Japanese mountain village named Hanuda, which is a very traditional village, and begins when a strange ritual in the forest near the village is interrupted and a subsequent earthquake. A infinity sea of blood-red water take place of the surrounding mountains.
The people of village are transformed in shibitos, zombie-like creatures that constantly work on something. And violently attack people who weren't transformed in shibitos yet.
And then, the mystery begins.
The story is told through the perspectives of ten survivors per stage. And you have the objective to survive and find out what's going on. You have to figure out by yourself and pay attention on the details to know what's happening. There are archives that will help you understand well things and cut-scenes as well.
The game stages are separated in a time-line of 3 days and the game let you go back in stages that you already passed and do things that you left behind and that will help other characters on their future stages.
The game is very scary. Shibitos don't die permanently, just fall down for a little time period. You'll have to think a lot to build a strategy to pass the stage and some stages you'll don't have access to weapons to fight shibitos. So you'll have to use the stealth system of the game to go through the stages.
The story is complex but is a masterpiece!
