Relativity close to being a very good game, unfortunately it's closer to mediocre.
The good:
* The graphics are very good -- convincing character models, great looking scenery.
* The mystery, itself, is pretty good
* There are some interesting and surprisingly deep characters in the story
* In general, the voice acting is terrific.
The not-so-good:
* They created a massive sense of scale, and some wonderfully detailed environments. However, the problem is there's a lot of walking walking walking from area to area. And when you have to do it for fetch quests, back and forth, it gets old quickly.
* The dialog interactions get old and repetitive. It's almost always a case where you just cycle through all of the possible dialog choices, and often you MUST cycle through them all, regardless of how closely related they are to the plot -- just a mechanic of the game. You'll hear each character say some lines over and over.
* More pixel hunting than problem solving -- I felt the puzzles were easy themselv es, but some took longer due to missing the "magic pixels" of something in the scenery. (Though to be fair, it was a mystery, so you should have to hunt carefully for clues...)
Anyway, if you're in for a pretty well done murder mystery, and you have the patience for some of the slower and repetitive aspects, you may well enjoy it. But it was not for me...
