The first installment of the SingStar series offers plenty of fun and interactivity, but exactly how good is it?

User Rating: 8.7 | SingStar (w/Microphone) PS2
Ever dreamed of hosting the ultimate party, where everyone can have a sing and enjoy themselves, or ever just felt the urge to sing along to your favourite track? If so, SingStar is the perfect game for you!

In the first installment of the SingStar series, you can sing along to a range of different tracks, either alone or as a duet. The game comes in two versions - the one, for new players, is packaged with two microphones. The other, for people who already own another SingStar game, is the same but comes without the microphones. If you don't yet own any of the SingStar games, you'll need to buy the more expensive package that comes with the microphones - otherwise you'll be left hopelessly trying to sing without getting a score.

There are a number of games in the SingStar series, this one being the first. It is simply called SingStar, and offers 30 tracks from all different artists, from Jamelia to The Darkness. No matter what your taste in music, SingStar has something for everyone.

This version of SingStar includes a career mode, where you start of singing in small clubs around the town, and then move on to bigger gigs and harder songs. If you're not up to playing the career mode, you've still got the single player mode where you just sing to get high scores.

SingStar can be played by up to 6 people, yet only 2 can sing at any one time. Some game types involve 4 people, but that is where you must pass over the microphone, and so you're still singing alone.

SingStar also features interactivity to the EyeToy. If you have an EyeToy, you can use it for two functions - to see yourself instead of the music video, and to take a picture of you celebrating your new top score!

SingStar is easily extendable with the other games in the series, each offering either 20 or 30 additional songs to add to your library. With all of these games, you'll have something for even the most shy of people to try.

SingStar is a wonderful game, and is perfect for parties, or just singing alone. No matter what your taste in music, SingStar has something for everyone!
