Silent Hill 2 took the town of Silent Hill to the most immersive, fantastic story out there. A fantastic survival horror

I picked up my copy of Silent Hill 2 a couple of weeks ago, and I just can't seem to put the thing down. I heard such great praise of this game from 'Zero Punctuation's Ben Yahtzee Croshaw. And, as soon as I finished my first playthrough of this game I was struck with awe. Let me set some things straight, the controls of the game were, and are, such a **** and combat can be frustrating and difficult. These may sound like major put-downs for the game, but it more than makes up for it with two important factors. Atmosphere and story. The main protagonist James Sunderland is brought to Silent Hill by a letter from his wife; and without giving too much spoilers out, something about this letter intrigues James and will continue to confuse him, and the player, throughout the course of the game. The story will take you on many unpredictable twists and turns, and whichever choices you make will represent which ending you get, and there is a wide variety! The fantastic atmosphere is something else which drags me back to this game, reason? It has the best atmosphere I have ever seen in a game. The constantly foggy streets cut you off from all outside life. Team Silent have created a game where the whole environment seems completely devoid of life; the true simulation of what it feels like to be entirely alone. Should you buy this game? Yes, without a shadow of a doubt. If you are even just thinking of buying this game, do so quickly and make it your first priority over everything else. In my personal opinion, this is my favourite game of all time...
