Not only is Silent Hill 2 the best Silent Hill game, it's the best horror-themed game you will ever find.

User Rating: 9.5 | Silent Hill 2 (Special 2 Disc Set) PS2
The Good: Amazing atmosphere, solid plot, horrible voice acting (it's hilarious..although this IS supposed to be a horror game...still..it's really funny), genuinely scary game.

The Bad: controls may take a little getting used to if you're not used to "tank" controls, horrible voice acting can ruing the awesome atmosphere at times.

Not only is Silent Hill 2 the best Silent Hill game, it's the best horror-themed game you will ever find, even nearly a decade after its initial release.

The story follows James Sunderland, who receives a letter from his dead wife Mary, and goes to Silent Hill to get to the bottom of things. Granted, not the best plot, but it's still solid.

One thing: if you're acustomed to playing games like the first few Resident Evils or the first Silent Hill, then the controls are fine. But if you aren't, then they can be a bit clunky. No big deal though, because you should have them figured out by the time the real action gets going.

The voice acting in this game is somehow the highlight and downfall (although it comes nowhere near Resident Evil for the PS1). On one hand, it's freaking hilarious, but on the other hand, it certainly takes away from the atmosphere of the game. And while we're at it, the atmosphere in Silent Hill 2 is the best atmosphere in any game I have ever played. There, I said it. It's creepy. Narrow walls, awkward noises and music coming from nowhere, dark lighting, weird monsters attacking you; it all adds up to an amazing atmosphere.

If you play this game on beginner, you'll breeze through it; if you play this game on the hardest difficulty, you're going to enjoy a thoroughly frightening adventure.

This game can be picked up on Gamestop for $15. Seriously? You're not convinced you should buy it? Just do it. Trust me, you won't regret it.
