Trully one of the best survival horror games ever.
Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams tells the story of James Sunderland, who's life is shattered after her wife Mary dies tragically. A few years later he recieves a letter from Mary (who supposed to be dead) asking him to return to the town of Silent hill where she is waiting on their "special" place. Now its up to you to guide James to Silent Hill where you have to survive this nightmare in store for you. Not to mention what kind of hell your going to experience on this adventure. The rest of the storyline is twisted but also interesting.
For those who have played the first Silent Hill the gameplay is still the same here. It is still slow but it delivers a terrifying experience to the player. You of course have a roster of different weapons you can use to fight monsters and other weird creatures in Silent Hill. Basically you start of with a wooden stick but as you move on you will find more weapons like a handgun,a shotgun and a rifle. Of course there are also items that you will picked up as you explore the town. These items includes medical kits and ammonitions that you can use to survive. Of course no survival horror game would be complete without the mind bending puzzles. Silent Hill 2 isnt a stranger to this, there are puzzles througout the game and you will have to solve this in order to move on or to get a key item. This game also offers brand new weird monsters that blocks your path. The monster's A.I depends on the difficulty you choose during the start of the game, so playing on the hardest mode will really test your skills.
The graphics of the game looks stunning. It has change alot since the first game and the environment setting is even more horrifying now. The CG movies are also realistic even from the opening FMV it looks so real to the eye and thats what the game looks good. The sound also is superb. From the voice acting to the sound effects its definitely one terrifying game. It makes the game really alive and it also give a frightening experience that will leave players to the edge of their sits.
Restless Dreams comes with an extra scenario that allows you to play a female character. Other than that there are six endings on the game and there are also few secrets as well to discover so the replay value is worth it.
So if your a true fan of the survival horror genre then i would deifnitely recomend this game for you.
