Having not played any other version of descent, I find myself really enjoying this. I can'tfully give this a final review because it's still being updated. Right now it's got multiplayer and it's addicting. The game engine is superb with unreal 4 graphics. You can rotate your ship in anyway you can possibly imagine. Six axis, six degrees of freedom. You fly through caverns and mines at over 60 plus frames per second. You can play this in VR as well. Fly through tunnels and using every button on an Xbox one controller and you will see that it takes some skill to keep up in the game to survive. I think this game will definitely rate higher onceompleted. So far, it's an excellent reboot.
