A different god game.

I haven't played any incarnations of The Settlers since the first, and I think it can be attributed to one factor, which I will explain in due course.

When I first began playing Settlers I absolutely adored it, you have to scour the map, looking for advantageous places to build mines, mason huts, blacksmiths, lumberjack houses and sawmills, these are then all connected by pathways, where carriers wait, and these need to be set up well. Each raw resource chappie, (lumberjack, mason etc.) will get the logs or stone and dump it by the flag at the door of their house, then the chap who runs that piece of pathway will fetch it and take it to the next flag and so on.

Logs go to sawmills to turn them into usable wood, which is then used to build more house...this part of the game was what I enjoyed most, it's the combat I didn't like...you seemed to spend all your time building for a war which was quite dull once it got going.

Great sim type start, but falls into the old god trap of just who has the biggest army wins!
