My thoughts of Secret of Mana.

User Rating: 10 | Seiken Densetsu 2 SNES
I just completed this game yesterday and I thought this game was excellent. I bought this game on the Wii Shop Channel sometime earlier this year and this is the only Mana game I have not played yet. So, what are my thoughts on this game? Well, I thought this was game was excellent and is a true classic from the SNES. The gameplay in this game is fantastic. This is an Action RPG, so you can move around anywhere on the battlefield and hit the enemy as many times as you want, but to do the best damage, wait until the Fury Gauge reaches 100%. The combat is very addicting and fun. You get to choose a weapon for your characters. They are: sword, axe, spear, bow, boomerang, glove, whip and javelin. I equipped the boy with the sword, the girl with the javelin and the sprite with the bow. With this combination, you can pretty much dominate over enemies and hit enemies from far away. The weapons must be levelled up by using Orbs of which you can get from bosses and treasure chests. You go to Watts to forge an upgraded version of your weapon. It's very easy to do. There are also Charge-Up Attacks. Each time you level up a weapon, you can increase the level of a Charge-Up Attack in the Action menu. The Charge-Up Attacks get more powerful with each level. The characters in this game are great. You get to name your characters. I named the boy John (obviously after myself), I named the girl Penny (after Gumball's girlfriend) and I named the sprite Sprite (It's the easiet name to remember). These are your characters throughout the whole game. They have great personality and are certainly memorable. The story in this game is the strong point of this game. The story is epic and emotional, especially near the end. I'm not spoiling anything. The soundtrack in this game is great. For an SNES game, the music is probably one of the best soundtracks for an SNES game. I liked the music quite a lot. The graphics are spectacular. For new-gen gamers who have not played any classic games from older consoles, they would think the graphics are horrible. Wrong! The graphics are great and this was the best technology in 1993 when this game was made. Remember, graphics alone do not make a great game, it's the gameplay. So overall, this game gets a 10/10. It's a true classic that any RPG fan should play. This is possibly the best game in the Mana Series.
