Better than mediocre, but typical trivia fare.

For a game based on a board game that is turn is played with the help of a dvd player it turns out to be a good port of the idea into a full out video game. But there are some things about this version that the board game has and this game is missing.
There is a certain sense of camaraderie that exists when a group of people sit down to play a board game. For example, when landing on a space and having the opposing team pull the card, read the question, and the teamwork to find the answer before the sand runs out is highly motivating and fun. Yet, having to read the questions yourself and attempt to buzz in quickly in order to get a better score is more like taking a test in high school. Or even if you did any drinking back in the 1990's when bars all had that trivia game with the portal boxes and nationwide score. This doesn't mean that it's not fun, but at the very least it should read more of the questions to you.
I play this game for three days with my family and we kept seeing the same clips from movies. The DVD version hardly ever did this, which makes me wonder at how much data there really is to chose from.
Also there a couple of games that seem a little misleading. One comes to mind where you're on the backlot and they are rolling out backdrops, although the backdrops actually have nothing to do with the game, but you instead need to read the words printed on them. Really? The creators had a chance to do something unique by including actual background footage from movies and make an interesting and probably difficult game, but they chose the cheap and easy way out.
In fact that is what a lot of this game feels like: cheap and easy, as if the development team was trying to get it out quick.
That said, it does have some good points, including the four colored controls.
There is one game where you have to figure out the titles based on a section of pictures (e.g. a picture of a screw + a baseball = screwball) which was quite fun (yet again, never saw that game in the long game only in party mode).
And the questions seemed to be mostly random, hardly ever coming back into the same question.
It is a fun party game with a little drinking involved, but probably not a fun game with a lot of drinking involved.
