Alrite Samurai Shodown. A great fighting game based off the NEO GEO Arcade hardware. I played SS whenever I could. Usually at the store or something like that. NEO GEO games used to be very intimidating to me. They were so different than most Arcade machines. There was a unflinching maturity that came off of their games.

SS holds up that precedence with tough 2D swordplay. They even got blood!! Oh my lol. Aw man. Uh yeah I usually picked one of those ninjas. I like ninjas. They are more representative of todays society than the Samurai are. What was it with the 90s and ninjas? So yeah, the fighting is awesome, very tough no holds barred. The sound effects are awesome. The game has a neat zoom in and out camera when the battle is taking place. Its' a nice addition. The first SS is probably one of the more balanced Samurai Shodowns.

I'm reviewing the Arcade version because it's the definitive one unless you have a NEO GEO. I heard someone mention that you weren't a true gamer unless you have or plan to own a NEO GEO at some point in your life. Thats a hardcore gamer speaking. Em, I know where they are coming from with that statement since the system is like having an Arcade cabinet with interchangable games. But yeah SS is one heck of a fighting game and if you can't buy the arcade cabinet, look into getting a NEO GEO. Its' a great system.
