Champloo

Samurai Champloo is a anime, probally one of my faves but will this game tarnish the greatness of the show?

First off the game's presentation is good, it feels like you're watchin the show the voice actin is goo my only gripe is Steve Blum didn't do Mugen's voice, but you'll learn to except Mugens new voice. Each stage or mission is broken into 8 episodes (#0-#7) each with stylized and appropriate loading bumps for when the game loads, you'll be seein these alot but you wont get annoyed they go by fast. but you dont have to dive right into a mission you can wander around the town called "EZO" playing mini games like: food eating contest with Fuu or Beetle Wrestling (Pokemon Spoof) and you also can buy Weapons, Items & New records to spin.

Next are the Graphics, The Graphics can seem dated but when wondering around the stage you wont notice my only gripe is the clothes aren't fluid and lack animation and Jin's Running animation is abit wierd. BUT the game manages to hold it together and produce a world that feels like Champloo.

Gameplay is fun, its a standard hack & slash with some tweeks, The battle system is a blended with a rythm game, much like the show music is key, you're provided with 2 records that you can switch back and forth during the action, each record has attack trees or patterns that you use to drop combos on your foes and when things get dull if you face off with a foe with stars over their head it will lauch a minigame where you will have to mash buttins wildly to get 100 slashes at least, then once you reach 100 slashes it lauches another minigame where you kill opponents with one hit to shift to another color (while bumpin techno music) and once you get 100 you get a prize! (usually weapons, records, items) and right after that it throws you right back into the fight as if nothin happened.
the gameplay is solid a fits the show perfectly.

Sound the music and sound efex are good and really set the mood.

THE BAD
The game suffers from long missions (they should've split a few episodes in half like a part 1 & 2 like show), me personally I didn't like the cameras cuz I felt like I was in the show yet I couldn't enjoy the scenery.

all in all its worth checkin out
