Spread your Wings and Fly

User Rating: 7 | Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell PS4

Saints Row: Gat out of Hell is one of those games that you have to keep an open mind about and have a sense of humor in order to truly enjoy. The themes are mature and quite frankly a bit absurd, but put together, it does leave you with 20 solid hours of entertainment.

Story: The game focuses on characters Johnny and Kinzie who must journey to hell in order to save their leader who has been kidnapped by the devil himself for the soul purpose of marrying his daughter. The story comes to life from a story book point of view with more of the focus on Johnny; who is the more "aggressive" character as opposed to his female counterpart Kinzie. Johnny's number one goal being to save his boss and shoot the devil in the face.

Gameplay: The gameplay offers some decent highlights. You gain the actual wings that belonged to Lucifer himself which you are then able to use to fly across the different areas that make up Hell. The flying mechanic is easy to get into and is probably one of the most enjoyable aspects of the game. Through various quests and achievements you are able to power up your flight ability as well as gain other supernatural abilities, such as, surround yourself with an angelic aura that makes enemies grovel at your feet or even summon minions from hell to do your will; just to name a few. There are many different powers as well as arsenal to unlock, that will help you battle the hoards of enemies that block your every turn, and the game does it in a way that is fun as opposed to mundane.

Visuals: The graphics are pretty good, the different sections of hell really do stand out as you are flying overhead. The thousands of lost souls that wonder the streets and even the demons and boiling lava are rendered beautifully. Granted, it may not be on the level of "The Order 1886," but it's nothing that would be considered an eyesore.

Summary: If you are looking for a game that will provide you with a barrel of laughs and pretty fun gameplay, then Saints Row: Gat out of Hell is worth picking up, and if you have secretly dreamed of soaring the skies on angel wings or even shooting the devil in the face, then this game is a must have. ;)
