Hacking, slashing, grabbing lots of loot and levelling up !

User Rating: 8 | Sacred 2: Fallen Angel PS3
Good old hack and slash games . Some have earned a cult status like Diablo for example, and some are long forgotten . Sacred 2 is unfortunately one in the latest category, but that doesn't mean it's a bad game . If you are a fan of hack and slash games, you should certainly give Sacred 2 Fallen Angel a chance .
I'm not going to "spoil" the story because...there simply isn't much story to spoil . Whether you play good or evil doesn't matter much in the way the game plays . The game starts like it will end, hacking, slashing, grabbing lots of loot and levelling up . And if you like that, you'll fall in love with the game easily, because this game is BIG , and with BIG I mean really big, almost ridiculously big .
One thing the game doesn't manage well is a tutorial . The manual is quite brief for a game containing so many keywords and RPG elements . It will take quite some time before you navigate through the different menu's, understanding all stats and how to build your character . Chances are you'll mess up your first character (I know I did), but you'll end up trying again because this game is so addictive to "play another hour" .
Graphically, I was quite surprised at the amount of detail that went into this game . It has a charming and adorable feel to it . The entire world is really varied and for being such a big game, no 2 places feel the same . There are some frame rate issues occasionally, but overall the graphics really do their job .
I'm not going to give an opinion about the soundtrack . You'll like it or you will not like it, but regardless of character, you will grow tired of hearing the same song over and over again .
The game does crash from time to time, although some character classes seem to play more stable than others (had no problem with a Dryad, but my high elf was a nightmare) . There are also bugs like quests that don't trigger or graphical hick-ups but they didn't matter much to me, as I loved the game not for what it tries to be, but what it is . Paradise for treasure hunters, paradise for people who love spending lots of time in menu's comparing items and stuff . Simple and fun, and although not for everyone and not perfect, I spend more than 300 hours in Ancaria, which is why this hidden gem gets a solid 8 !!!
