There's a good bit of fun to be had with this "Power Rangers" adventure.

Growing up, there was one series I probably watched more than anything else at the time: "Power Rangers." I was obsessed with the series, I watched the show at every opportunity that I could, I had a ton of the Morphers and other toys, I dressed up as different Rangers seemingly every Halloween, there was often no separating me from my "Power Rangers." Along with that, I used to play a lot of the "Power Rangers" video games when I was younger, and one of my favorites was the PlayStation version of "Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue." Beyond being based on a "Power Rangers" season that I loved more than most, this game was just really fun, and going back to re-experience it, it still holds up today.

"Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue" doesn't reinvent the wheel, but what it does is provide some pretty fun gameplay with decent combat, clever level design, and even some decent visuals. It's hard to expect a lot of graphics from the PlayStation era to age well today, but this game does age well. It's also nice that the game features the voice talents from the TV show itself, and those actors do a pretty good job, even if they aren't given the most material to work with.

On the negative end, though, I do wish the game was a little bit longer and a little more varied. A lot of the boss fights can feel a little bit same-y, and even when the game gives you different Megazords to work with, none of them really feel all that different. Also, while the combat is pretty decent, I do think that the hit detection can feel a little bit clunky at points, and sometimes, it's hard to really counter hits from enemies when one hit leaves you completely stunned and open for more attacks.

Overall, "Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue" on the PlayStation is still a pretty enjoyable beat 'em up. It obviously isn't the greatest thing you'll ever play, and it's got a few flaws, but it's still a fun time while it lasts. If you're a big fan of the series (or you have kids that love the series), you'll definitely get plenty of enjoyment out of it.
