Ryse son of Rome is an Action-Adventure game, developed by Crytek (Crysis), set in the Roman Empire era, you play as Marius a sometimes rookie soldier others a veteran centurion, through many various points of his life.
The first thing you'll notice, is the high production values of the game, graphics and sound are top notch (specially ifyou made the jump from a 7th generation platform) characters and enviroments, look really good and lifelike, and the combaas bloody and brutal as one can expect from sword wielding (or gladius wielding) warriors. This helps get the main story createto impressive sequences, and character driven moments.
Marius is a likable character to play as, he is regarded as a war hero, with the heart in the right place, who is crossed, bythose he used to protect, the story also has slight touches of fantasy but never to big, to distracts from the setting andcharacters.
Ryse's gameplay is somewhat of the weak part, the combat is fluid, and you can create spectacular combinations and set pieces,but it kind of lacks in enemy variety, and fighting combinations, the low part is the stationary scorpion sequences, being theexecutions the highlight of the combat, it has a touch of strategy when selecting the special ability of your current execution,also the enviroment variety is welcome, as you get to fight in impressive scenarios.
Multiplayer, is a coin toss in Ryse as you can create a great experience or suffer depending on your partner, although Iexperienced a couple of glitches and bugs while playing this mode, but the character customization is a nice feature.
