The Greatest Game, you've probably never played

Now, when I got this game, I had no previous experience with the NES Rygar. But lucky for me, no previous Rygar experience was required to enjoy this game. But that's not to say you will enjoy this game right off the bat. It took me some time to see the true greatness of this game. What greatness would that be you ask?

The only thing about this game that you'll notice right away is the graphics. Simply put, they are stunning. First of all, the artistic style used in this game is awesome (the bosses themselves are worth a discount purchase, they rule!), and it's complimented nicely with polished, finely tuned graphics. This is arguably one of the best looking PS2 games out there. The story in Rygar isn't anything special, because it doesn't really pick up through cutscenes, more through stone tablets that you find throughout the game. But graphics and story would mean jack if the game wasn't any fun. But lucky for you, Rygar is plenty fun!

The way I describe Rygar's gameplay is, its how Castlevania64 SHOULD have played. The Diskarmor's handles like a really heavy whip after all. (you can even swing from certain points) You move from simple dungeon to simple dungeon, (none of the dugeons are complicated puzzlewise, usually just hit the switch.) breaking walls, as almost everything is destructible and yields items. And swinging your weapon is fun. You'll eventually get three diskarmors all with varying abilities and their own unique summon monsters. And while the combat seems mash happy at first, after you learn all of your skills you'll fight like pro, racking up monster combos and spraying green blood everywhere. You'll kill to a well put together, highly epic soundtrack, which makes your quest feel like a good epic movie. Its a total shame that this game didn't achieve the sales records it deserved, but the good news is its probably plenty cheap now, so go pick it up!
