Very Impressed So Far...

OK, so nowadays, most major mmorpg's have their free-to-play versions, and the better and newer the game, the more limited the free-to-play is... on newer top notch games, free-to-play is even more limited because there wasn't much content out their to begin with. Then there comes MMO's that are completely free to play per month, and free to download the client... Wait, What? This game is very good despite any flaw because IT'S FREE! (yes, CAPS for all you people complaining about something you didn't even have to pay for)... Free to download, and free-to-play. Is it a WOW clone? there are parts that are similar, Similarities to LOTRO? yes... but I'm not sure why people are complaining about having a game with similar features to the top selling MMO, but, ehem... again, no $15.00 per month fee (which is almost half of what I pay for internet). I've been playing MMORPG's since Everquest in 2000, and those who played know how difficult an d buggy these games were in 2000 when there were few alternatives (maybe Ultima Online)... and it was $9.99 per month. People tolerated it because there were no alternatives, as well as because it was a classic for its time. Then came WoW, fixed all of the painful parts of previous MMO's, but completely stripped away the need for a well balanced group, and turned dungeon crawls into free-for-alls. Awesome game none-the-less, but again $15.00 per month and $30.00 per expansion which added nothing but vanity, producing a large community of "gear-snobs" who want nothing to do with playing together if you are a learner and don't have the coolest gear.

So I figured I'd give this a try, and I couldn't be more impressed. Nowadays, it seems to me to run as smooth as WoW, but not necessarily so much as a clone. Graphics of environment and the sounds reminds me of the original EverQuest, having character models like WoW, but without the goofy and comical twists of WOW, and the annoying buggy interface of the original Everquest. No over-inflated stories and lore like WoW... because I don't care why you give me money for killing 12 wolves, and don't read it anyway. It loses all of the vanity add-ons and seems to just focus on how smart the game could be put together... no fancy pubs, no fancy underwater zones, no four-page dialog on history and lore before getting a quest. With the dual, and then triple class system, you can create your own hybrid of classes that are completely unique. has mounts and flying mounts, pets and pet breeding for all classes, a housing system where you can even get resources by keeping plants in your home.

Besides the people who complain about it being a free WoW clone (oh no! free WoW!), there are complaints due to lack of races... but does that really take from content? make your elf tall and light skinned... there, you have a high elf... make him short and dark... wood elf... want a halfling? create a really short human with big feet... dark elf? make him blue... there, problem solved.

Each character can have three classes (2 at lvl 10, and 3 at lvl 20) and good variety of almost all crafting classes at the same time. I don't agree with other reviews that the crafting system is tedious because it is the same as all other MMO's out today. Yes, for those who have only ever played WoW, it is an MMO, so naturally it will remind you of that game most... however, it seems that it took the best of all MMO's, cut out the stupid parts that have nothing to do with leveling, has a crafting system comparable to the best of the genre, no bugs and crashes like I thought from a free game, just a great MMO put together by some very smart people. And this game is and will be increasing in popularity because its becoming one of the best MMO's period... besides the fact that there is no monthly charge.
