This is a review of the recently launched Browser version.

I still remember when the Treasure Trove instance opened up and everyone everywhere was quite angry about it, because it took several hours of gambling just to get the trash mobs out of the way.
And because it was quite hard. Back then, less than 50 people on my server would qualify to take on that task, so with people being offline and doing something else and not being organized you had only one or maybe two groups doing this instance per day although it was new and interesting.
Not exactly what one would call a pleasing new experience, right?

The same goes with the Browser version of RoM.

While it is without doubt the fastest way to start up and enjoy the game, there are some severe limitations or even game-stoppers.
The browser engine sometimes forgets to load stuff. Stuff in this case might refer to monsters pounding away at you while you are unable to respond to an invisible attack, or even the inventory of your house.
I tried it, even after two hours of AFKing the beloved storage chest in my virtual home would not materialize.

But most likely the most revealing bug considering the intentions of the developers is the inability to remember any graphical or audio options. The game always starts up with everything on "full throttle".
Good for a fancy show-off during presentations of the game, bad for my secondary PC which would run RoM just fine with scaled down graphics - but it takes like 5 seconds to even click away the license agreement on the login screen.

Which brings us back to Treasure Trove!

I recently revisited this infamous instance and found it absolutely unchanged for almost 3 years now.
The uprising roars of a thousand souls - please excuse my daring language - was not enough to persuade the developers to change it in any way.

So, in regard of the Browser version... i would not hold my breath waiting for even the most teething problems to be corrected EVER.

But besides all my usual criticism when reviewing games, in my opinion RoM is still one of the best MMORPGs around.

Just don't play in in your Browser. ;)
