Best in the series really addictive but other factors like sound makes this game embarassing to play in front of friends

ROTK X a strategy game based on the novel called Romance of the Three Kingdoms. The story of the game depends on whats the settings of your game and your role in the game. There are two game modes "Historically, Fictionally" Historically refers to what really happened in the novel(an event will occur depending on where you are in the game) while fictionally refers to a random relationship of officers, and no events whatsoever. Historical game mode has some bugs though like for example if you recruit an officer who will trigger an event, it will make the next event obsolete, or the whole event thing will be gone forever.

The graphics isnt good for a PS2 console but considering its a strategy game why would you even criticize graphics over gameplay?

The sounds ill rate it .01/10 if possible. The sound is too depressing. The sound has chants like from china, and youll hear it in every city of the game. The music is too repetitive, i already memorized the lyrics. It goes by this "HAHAHAHAAHAHAHA" .Youll notice the audio more than the graphics, and the gameplay.

The gameplay is what pulls this game from oblivion. Since ROTK one Koei sticked with a city building mode with military conquest. It is still nice for the game, since its a strategy game. This tradition of KOEI has been here until ROTK X where they added character development. You now have the option of increasing your abilities( E.i. WAR- changes the outcome of war and duels, POL-an important factor for domestic affairs, LEA- changes the outcome of war, INT- increases the success rate of tactics, CHA- your ability to be loved)/ now have the option to learn new skills. You now have the option of making an intelectual person into a mighty warrior, or vice versa, It increases the replayability of the game. Koei introduced a day to day turn rather than month to month turn which is a nice factor since it makes the game more realistic. From the previous ROTK youll only hole up in a city, while in here you can wait a month/year outside the citywalls, in a camp, or in a faraway place. Its better if you played this for about 1 1/2 hour to decrease the possibility of boredom. If you played for a whole day youll notice that the game's gameplay is repetitive, and adding the irritating background music chant you do the math.(thats why i rated the gameplay 9)

I'd recommend this game to everyone who loves strategy games(especially city builder+military conquest kind of games) but if you already played one of the series i recommend you to rent it first. To those who are a fan of ROTK this is a must since there are new things added to the game.

Rent it dont buy it yet. Hear first the BGM if its fine in your ears then go buy it.
