"Rouge Warrior is just a broken heap of mess."

Published by 'Bethesda', Rouge Warrior was originally being developed by 'Zombie Studios'. Soon after, 'Bethesda' stated that they weren't satisfied with Zombie Studios direction with the game, therefore they decided to scrap Zombie's project and bring in 'Rebellion' to develop an entirely new game from scratch.

*****REVIEW*****

You play a Navy SEAL agent named Richard Marcinko (voiced by Mickey Rourke) who has been sent into North Korea to retrieve Intel on ballistic missile launchers in the 1980s. You are sent in with a group of highly trained Navy SEAL, trained by Richard himself, to help him complete his mission. As the game begins, your groups is attacked and killed leaving you as the only survivor. The story is very unforthcoming and just simply dull.

Rogue Warrior plays out like any traditional first person shooter; you move from one level to the next killing enemies along the way. After each level you are presented with cut scene's that protrude the story along. Rouge Warrior features stealth elements, but can be slightly more monotonous than fun. The enemies you encounter in the game are extremely dull, weapons are tedious, and the overall plot and characters are unsatisfying to say the least.

Rouge Warrior's visuals are poor. The game suffers from broken dull textures, modelling structure, unappealing and rough level design and special effects. It's not a nice game to look at, especially for it being a next-gen game.

Rouge Warrior is a First Person Shooter with tactical elements, but offers nothing new at all in the first person genre. Think of Rainbow Six Vegas's game-play and cover system, and you'll have a clear understanding as to how Rouge Warrior's plays.

The goal of the game is primarily you moving from one level to another complete missions that are not very complex, or exciting, which purely results in you reaching the end of the level. As you play, you have a wide range of weapons and explosives to play about with, i.e. the AK-47, pistols, grenades and a combat knife, but overall their not as fun as you would expect. The controls can feel stiff making it quite awkward to perform headshots. The enemies you face in the game range as mercenaries that suffer from poor A.I. and cover mechanics, which can make the game slightly easier than it should. Enemies tend to stand in one spot, run straight towards you, or cover in the stupidest places that can still easily be hit. When you are close enough to an enemy, you can perform brutal one hit death moves, much like Grin's 2009 game 'Wanted: Weapons of Fate', which can make the game even more easier. The cover system is much like (if not exactly like) Rainbow Six Vegas and Gears of War, which allows you to pop in-and-out of cover as well as blindfire. Rouge Warrior offers the feature of using stealth but most of the time you'll find the stealth elements lacking due to poor A.I., game-play mechanics and programming. As a tactical FPS game, using stealth, shooting out lights and hiding in the dark is very limited and when you do use tactical elements, they can feel somewhat redundant.

Rouge Warrior features online multiplayer, but with the poorly executed single player camping, and other way better online multiplayer games out there, Rouge Warrior does not stand a chance.

The online features standard deathmatch and team deathmatch games, which is not a variety, but with other more satisfying online multiplayer out there, Rouge Warrior's online multiplayer can get boring really quickly.

The overall sound design is horrible; awful music, terrible voice talent, and late sound effect loading times. Sadly, Mickey Rourke's performance in the game was not enough to save it.

Rouge Warrior's campaign is very short, which should last about 3 to maybe 5 hours of playing time. The game offers online multiplayer, but does not offer any extent to its overall life value.

In the end, Rouge Warrior is just not a fun game. It's playable yes – to some extent –, but just not fun. The only incentive about playing Rouge Warrior's is getting trophies, which isn't really saying much. The story is unappealing and simply boring. The game-play is playable but suffers from poor A.I., mediocre controls, and lacks what's important in a game… fun and being enjoyable. Terrible sound design, poor value for money and not an eye catcher.

Rouge Warriors is the type of game you'll put on, see how bad it is, maybe finish it, and then never play again. Even Mickey Rourke's performance in the game was not enough to save it.

If you're a hardcore gamer like myself who will play pretty much anything, Rouge Warrior is a bad game, and a game you should rent only if your desperate to see what it's like. If you're a casual gamer looking for good games, I recommended you stay away.

If you like games like Rainbow Six Vegas, Wanted: Weapons of Fate, or playing first person shooter games, I'd recommend you getting them instead of getting Rouge Warrior.
