Great game but full of obvious unused potential.

You are the heir of a lost hero and you must fight in a Castlevania-esque castle which is randomized in order to defeat 4 bosses and a final rival. You die and one of your three sons take where you left off (in upgrades, not castle progress).

They are good. I'm a sucker for retro graphics, but there is something I like more than retro graphics, is a retro graphic style in a modern graphics game. This is not that way, but it's pretty nice.

Sound:

It's OK. The main theme/s that follow you through are fine, but not up to standard of some great indie games like Super Meat Boy or Binding of Isaac or even VVVVVV.

Storyline:

You find lore (albeit short) throughout the entire castle and the idea of the legacy is pretty cool.

Gameplay:

8.5 out of 10.

It's tight and fair. I recommend a controller for this game since it requires precision and timing. There are lots of powerups and a nice skill tree with passives and actives and class unlocks, all that you could expect from a roguelike action rpg plataformer. The only problem I have is the randomization, I don't find it enough, it's pretty stale in some parts. Also the items aren't that creative since there aren't special ones (like legendary ones) that do crazy stuff, just the usual stat upgrades we are used to.

Conclusion:

It's a great roguelike. I would've loved to see multiplayer in this game since it would be so much chaotic fun. Also some more enemies types and randomization, more items too.

You'll play it, maybe beat it up to New game + + and probably leave it there since there isn't as much replayability as in games like Binding of Isaac.
