And a bad music game is born

User Rating: 5 | Rock Revolution DS
Rock revolution is a an example of of a game that wanted to get into the music genre competition but in a way that its not even close to its competitors.

While guitar hero offers some nice 3d animations, Rock Revolution gives you some weird art style that kind of makes you feel sad about those cartoon characters cuz they are ugly as hell and not only them, also the instruments look bad so if you expected to have some nice set of drums or being a handsome guitar player then think again.

There are some decent music selection which it all depends on what kind of music do you like. Music can vary from Blink 182 and Avril Lavigne. The thing is that all this songs are just covers, not master tracks, so you go figure the quality of the songs and while guitar and vocals are respectable bass is a slap in the face for music fans. Drums are in between all.

Gameplay

You have 4 instruments to choose from which sounds ok written on paper but in reality in can get boring fast. For drums you just tap a virtual drum which feels nowhere as good as the real thing. Guitar is based only in strumming up and down. Vocals are ok, you just sing to the ds, though its not recommended when you are in a public place cuz it can make you feel weird. You can some kind of star power but when you use it they show you a still image of your musician, lame.

If after playing for a while you actually get to like it, theres one or two things you can do to get the most of it for a while. You have 3 levels of difficulty though the game is easy even on expert, and you can use 4 instruments. You have a career mode and some things to buy though not very useful. And you can play with up to 4 people if they have the game but for a single card download play you can play with two people but only 1 song =(.
