FUN BUT HARD !!!
Robotron 2084 for XBLA is much improved over the now ancient and thankfully dead just plain "Robotron". It features new HD graphics which really look great..... especially when you choose original graphics and see just how bad it used to look, haha!
Now onto the gameplay. Move and shoot in 8 eight directions.
Repeat.... Repeat.... Repeat.... Die Die Die....
That's it folks, there isn't much more to Robotron 2084. Unless you add in the fact that for extra points you can save the last human family members. They really help to rack up the points, that is, IF the "tanks" don't crush them first.... which they do..... a lot.
The toughest part of Robotron 2084 is the luck factor. Will that random, swirling, enemy bullet hit you if you move..... or will it hit you when you stand still? The answer to both is mostly, YES. The enemies and their magic, super-fast bullets make 100% sure you probably won't reach any level beyond 10 unless you are having a really magical day.
Plus, the enemies themselves are quite "clever" .... if you can call them that. They simply home in you and don't let up. Ever. They come at you with all the fervor of a sweaty bunch of rock-n-roll groupies.... that must reach you NOW.
And this means you will die...... over.... and over.... and over... until your lives are gone and you are restarting again for another shot against the Robotron 2084 Luck Factor. Good luck to you! You're going to need it.
Now, as for the achievements. I got the first 5 or so within 15 minutes of starting up Robotron 2084 on XBLA for the first time..... but how in the world am i ever going to reach Level 30 --- Or Level 100 for that matter ? IS THAT ACTUALLY POSSIBLE? LEVEL 100????????
All in all, Robotron 2084 is super hard, but it's also super-addictive and fun. Just keep in mind that it's not just hard, it's near impossible to be "good" at this game.... but you will surely have some major fun trying to get good at it.
