This is released after the 1995 PC version of The Need For Speed.

The game content remains the same as in the 1995 release but the gameplay and graphic is altered a bit.

Here are several new things included in the game:

-You can listen to the sound tracks in the audio option menu and can change whether to listen to only rock or techno music.

-You can choose the time of day on each track. Some of them are morning and others are evening. They both look the same but they are cool.

-If you win the tournament or downloaded the NFSPATCH file, they included mirrored and rally for the tracks and a fictional super car.

-A map is included in the gameplay which will make easier predictions on where the next corner is or where to turn.

-Two new tracks which include Transtropolis and Burnt Siena.

-A Windows version is included. It's impossible to install the windowed version onto Windows 2000, XP and Vista. Download Dosbox to be able to play the DOS version of the game which is roughly the same.

Note: Steering response is slow with a keyboard. A steering wheel is recommended to steer the car but it shouldn't be impossible to play with a keyboard.

Even though it's almost the same as the 1995 release. This Special Edition is highly recommended for racing and simulation fans.
