The first installment of NFS on the 3DO may be like the remake of Test Drive II but it's still fun to play around!

The first ever realistic The Need For Speed came out first on 3DO (1994), PC (1995), PS and Sega Saturn (1996) and the PC's Special Edition.

This game has really been one of the best in the series! Showing 8 powerful and beautiful sports and exotic cars from Europe to Japan, these cars are made to be as accurate as in real life with the showrom showing detailed stats of the each car and it's performance.

Also, Electronic Arts included video clips of the cars with music to fit the car's personality. They also included video clips showed that you've had won a Head to Head or Single Race and shows them when you get BUSTED by the PD!

Tracks are detailed featurnig 3 point to point races with 3 segments to race with.

The crash physics are realistic but some of them seemed overexagerated. You have 4 lives at the begining so you got to be careful of smashing your car out but this is only on the 3DO! The common annoying aspect is the invisible walls which means you can't cut through some of the spaces but that doesn't mean you should stop playing this game.

Opponents rarely make mystakes at all which is quite annoying but they sometimes aren't smart enough to navigate when two cars are blocking both lanes at the same time! When they're near by you, they'll horn to pressure you which increases the tention when you race with an opponent which make the racing fun.

The fuzz will be on guard but with the radar scaner equiped into your car, you'll know when they will show up so listen carefuly. The old "Smokey" will try and catch you when you're speeding and will fine you three times until you go to jail! They are easy to evade so you should stop worring!

MISC.
-The in-car dashboard view was the best I've ever seen as the interior (which is animated) moves wherever direction you go.

-Car and gear sounds are recorded from real life.

-Cars look fantasticaly detailed at that time.

-You can use your horn to honk other races and traffic cars. (Don't know what's the use but it's a nice option...)

This game is highly recomended, as well as for NFS fans. Also, if you are a driving simulator fan, this could be your kind of game. If you played Road Rash or Test Drive II: The Duel you would probably enjoy Need For Speed too!
