A great game for a lazy weekend.

User Rating: 8.7 | Rise to Honour PS2
Jet Li’s Rise to Honor is a Ps2 game that focuses more on being a cinematic experience, than a great gaming experience. The games main strong points are the clever combat system and the fact that just about anyone (big time gamer or not) can pick this game up and find many enjoyable aspects to this game.

The game lets you do just what the title hints at, and that is the ability to be able to play as Jet Li in this game. As Jet Li you play an undercover cop who is currently working for a crime lord who then gets killed, and you have to go around and do some stuff he asked you to do before he died. Sadly that is about as deep as the games story gets as the game is really, really short and the story isn’t explained to well. The fighting is a blast though and that should keep you playing this game until the end.

The game to me really had an Enter the Matrix feel, which I found to be great. The combat is simple, you point the right analog stick in the direction of the enemy that you want to punch or kick. These simple controls make it very easy to put together some pretty sweet combos. Other than that all the other actions are done with the R1 button and it plays out like Resident Evil 4 in a way.

The graphics in this game are pretty good. Well the environments may be a little drab and not up to par with some other games of its time, the character models look very good. You can tell that Jet Li’s actual body was used in making this game, and it looks just like him.

The sound department is another one of this game highlight. The voice-overs are very good, especially those of the main characters. The music is very good and the bullets sound just as good. This game sounds and looks great.

This is where the sad part comes in. Rise to Honor is a great game. It is simple and easy for anyone to pick up. The sad thing is that this game is too simple and can be beaten in a weekend of moderate gaming. I do guarantee that you will have fun with this game while you are playing it, even if it is just a rental.
