Namco Turns Up With A Great Xbox 360 Launch Title Racer

User Rating: 8.5 | Ridge Racer 6 X360
This was the first ridge racer game I played and I was suprised to see how good-looking and how solid the racing is for an Xbox 360 launch title. Namco does a fantastic job with composing the music soundtrack for the game and it really captures the Ridge Racer atmosphere. The cars are a thrill to drive (and drift) and are looking as stylish as ever. Even the menus look slick (especially when you are greeted with a "welcome back____" and shows your progress that you made after each race) and complete with a digital voice. Career mode here is where you find yourself unlocking news places to go and race on the map. The only minor annoyance I found that the racing announcer is irritating to listen to. He says "nitrous" so many times that your ears will bleed and his dialogue is really irritating to listen to (and I thought the NFS Prostreet announcers were the most annoying announcers I've listened to). Annoying announcers aside (in addition to some minor graphical hitches), Ridge Racer 6 is a fun and thrilling racer (Again, I give props to Namco for the Pacman symbolization of car leads) and simply a great Xbox 360 launch title all around.
