Rhapsody's adventure may be short and easy, but her story combined with the game's charm is refreshingly hilarious!

Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure is one of the best games I've ever played, for one reason only: its extremely funny.

If you're looking for a long, deep, challenging RPG then you won't be pleased with Rhapsody, because the game is the complete opposite: short, accessible, and easy.

However, if you want to play an RPG with a satisfying story, charming and unique characters, and plenty of truly humorous moments then look no further.

Rhapsody had me laughing out loud. Seriously. The game is hilarious, partly due to the story, partly due to the clever characters and script.

The game comes from NIS and Nippon Ichi, most recognized for there Disgaea games. If you've played Disgaea or any other game from NIS/N.I. then you'll already have a pretty good idea about what the characters look like and how crazy funny the story can get.

However I firmly believe that this is THE BEST GAME from NIS/N.I., simply because it is the funniest.

Rhapsody is in love. The only problem is, she loves someone she will never have: the prince. Turns out Rhapsody is just a peasant, and a sort of outcast as well. She is the only one in her village who can talk to puppets, and the other villagers think she's a bit odd.

One such puppet is her best friend Kururu, a small fairy girl who thinks Rhapsody is silly for liking the prince. Still she's a loyal friend who will help Rhapsody win the prince's heart, while stealing the spotlight and causing trouble occasionally.

The two set off to the kingdom in hopes of meeting the prince, so that Rhapsody can win him over and have her fantasy happily-ever-after life she's always wanted.

Their adventure is filled with unique characters, deeply funny moments, sweet and charming visuals/locales and quirky tunes. There's even musical numbers!

Rhapsody is a musical RPG. No, seriously. Its a musical, like the ones you see in films, only here its an RPG on the DS. Characters break out into song and dance, often hilarious and always cute.

There are a few problems with the game, however.

Its easy. Don't play it for a challenge, because you won't find one here. Unless of course you're new to the RPG world. This is the perfect game for RPG beginners. But it IS easy. You can even put battles on autopilot and let the characters do all the work for you. Very nice if you want to get through battles quickly, and you will because the story is very clever and entertaining.

The musical numbers are still in Japanese. Though this is really cool to me, others might not like it and it would have been nice if the songs had been recorded in English when it was brought to the USA. Still there are subtitles, so you can read what they are singing. It doesn't take away from the humor but some might not like the Japanese vocals.

Like I said before, don't go into the game looking for hard gameplay.

Just play the game for everything else: the story, characters, music, locales, and some of the best work from NIS/N.I. and I promise you won't be dissapointed. On the contrary, I think you'll be deeply pleased with Rhapsody and her musical adventure.
