PlanetZero Review

Planet Zero should make any old-school shooter fanatic happy for a while.

It's really hard to get a good old-school shooter on any system nowadays, but Gameloft's Planet Zero successfully brings us back to the days of 2D side-scrolling goodness.

Like in any good shooter, it's your little ship against hordes of aliens--flying aliens, crawling aliens, and big boss aliens at the end of major levels. The game runs fast, especially considering the amount of onscreen activity.

Planet Zero has a good learning curve, which starts off easy but ramps up to be downright hard toward the final stage. It also is a fairly lengthy shooter, taking about 45 minutes to complete. Power-ups such as side-shooters and laser beams add just enough variety to the weapon mix to keep things interesting throughout.

An innovation or two would have made this reviewer ecstatic. Overall, Planet Zero should make any old-school shooter fanatic happy for a while.
