My first PS3 game, which still packs a powerful punch 3 years later

User Rating: 8.5 | Resistance: Fall of Man PS3
My first PS3 game, and let me just say, this was a great start for the PS3 system.
One of the main points I like about this, its totally immersive, narrated story. Images and cutscenes combine to make a well told and intriguing alien invasion in Britain. Your Nathan Hale, and everywhere you go, you somehow survive the situation, only to be faced with more objectives to get things done.
You start off as an ordinary soldier, but soon enough, you get infected by the chimeran virus. You somehow wake up, unlike everyone else, and have remarkable healing powers. This responds to your health bar, as you have 4 segments, which drain when take hits. If you take cover long enough, you will refill that segment.
Another great involvement is the vast variety of sci fi weapons. Each one does interesting and powerful things to help you against the chimera (aliens). The good things is, is that you can hold as many weapons as possible, without dropping any. This allows you to pick and choose the type of gun for your situation. Each gun also has secondary functions, which usually are more powerful than the primary. Unfortunately there are some powerful weapons which aren't unlocked until you've completed the game. But this adds replay value to the game.

You will also be transported to various locations in Britain, encountering realisticly ruined buildings and shootouts that pay off nicely. The year is 1951, and so many guns really do have that feel to them.
The campaign itself, is sheer quality. There are lots of different enemies that you encounter, and its up to you to find the weapon best suited to taking it down (usually with bloody results).
The sound is great, with scripted scenes always happening around you, which help involve you even more with the war-like atmosphere.

The controls are unusual, and take some time to get used to, if you haven't played it before. Although you can custimize your own. Enemy AI is ok, with them usually coming at you, or just peaking in and out of cover.
The graphics are very good aswell, just as you would expect from a PS3 exclusive.
