A disgusting excuse for a sequel to a critically acclaimed series. What happened, Capcom?

I've been playing Resident Evil as far as I can remember. I remember poping open my PlayStation to play the Director's Cut of the original and being truly terrified. There was really no game like Resident Evil. Even as it went on, it just seemed to get better, especially with it's master bomb in 2004 with Resident Evil 4. But, as always, with great success comes imitators. Along came games inspired by the RE series, like Left 4 Dead, Dead Rising, etc. When this happened, this is when the RE series went downhill.

As in previous RE games (RE5, RE: Operation Raccoon City), Resident Evil 6 loves to live in the past of Resident Evil 6. I firmly believe that ever since Capcom redefined survival horror with RE4, they think they have a free pass to put in whatever they want into the RE games. This shows very strongly in Resident Evil 6. The stories often bloated, boring and tedious. Leon's story is certainly full of cheesy moments, Chris's story looks like something ripped out of a Gears of War rip-off manuscript, and the new trying-really-hard-to-be-a-badass-but-failing character, Jake's story, is full of unnecessary quicktime events and obviously added on last minute ideas, signed off by Michael Bay.

With Resident Evil 6, Capcom has finally managed to make the games as appealing as the live-action movies that come out every year. This may be the biggest disappointment in gaming history, and just to think: I was a huge Resident Evil fan.
