The nightmares return as you pay another visit to the horrors Raccoon City.

User Rating: 9 | BioHazard 3: Last Escape (CapKore) PS
You could never escape the horror from Raccoon City in the Resident Evil series filled with zombies and monsters lurking everywhere. The third instalment in series which was released for PS1 back around 1999 and 2000 later on in the year.

Resident Evil 3 takes place where the outbreak has struck Raccoon City, where the dead walk the earth and you play as the heroine Jill Valentine who was a S.T.A.R.S member but she tries to find a way and escape the nightmare from the city.

Gameplay: Fan of the series should have no problem finding their way round on its controls, thats if you have played the last two Resident Evil games. You can either use the directional pad or the left analog stick to move and holding square at the same time to move. To shoot and kill zombies simply hold down R1 and pressing down the X button to fire your weapon, there are various guns and ammo scattered in Raccoon City which you can use from the shotgun to the grenade launcher. Fans will know that the classic herb mixing returns where you can pick up Green, Red or Blue herbs make stronger healing items for yourself or low on health.

A new features that been adding is where real-time action can be selected at various points in the game, you'll encounter the strongest enemy in game known as Nemesis who will chase you down no matter how many you tried to kill it. At certain points you'll be given two choices on how to avoid the current situation from either taking down Nemesis or escaping a runaway cable car. Not only that they'll be a few puzzles here and there requiring you to think in order to get to the next part of the game.

Graphics and Sound: I actually downloaded the game from the Playstation Store not so long ago, and the graphics still haven't changed since it was first released over a decade from now. The opening to Resident Evil 3 make you feel truly welcomed on how the outbreak begins and see the city in flames. The landscapes and environments look well-detailed and very impressive to look at for a survival horror game giving you thrills and chills down your spine wondering what's lurking behind that corner.

Everything about Resident Evil 3 looks including its character animation and CGI animation, for a horror game you will see blood and gore as well from shooting zombies to seeing Jill getting ripped to shreds by Nemesis. I would admit that the camera can be really awkward when your going from one place to another in each area, this can be annoying or some people where they'll enemies in area and more behind you end up can't seeing what's up ahead. Voicing does a great job from the moans of zombies to gun shot noises, the voice acting makes a great touch but the best part is hearing Nemesis with the large sounding footsteps and shouting out S.T.A.R.S as he tries to chase you down.

Overall: As a fan of the series I actually found Resident Evil 3 quite scary and plus one or two moments that made me jump. These are the kind of games that Capcom should try and make more often on next-gen consoles but for now it still remains as a classic horror for the Playstation. If your planning on playing the series for the first time don't waste all of you ammo all once because you'll need a lot as you face more tougher enemies.

Beating the game can take you at least 10 hours or more pending on how quick you get through the puzzles and know where to go next. There is Mercenaries mode which can be unlocked after clearing the game, and pending on how quick you speed run through it you'll be able to unlock more powerful weapons to use. Resident Evil 2 and 3 will still remain as the best games in the series and are worth the purchase especially this one on disc or from the Playstation Store.
