I found Resident Evil 3 buried among my PS1 games, and being the often bored person I am, I decided to take it out and decide to actually play it for once in my life.

I was greeted by a fairly impressive cinematic (considering its age) and mediocre graphics, which now are really crap :-). Anyway, I started to play the game, remembering Resident Evil's reputation of being frightening. Upon seeing the graphics, however, I doubted that this game could give me a good scare. Unfortunately for my heart, i was wrong.

I found myself twitching and screaming in shock at multiple points of the game. I started to notice similar things that happened in these frightening moments, and looked out for any circumstance i believed that this could occur. I didn't do well, still getting shocked and still checking to make sure I still had a full bladder. I'm not normally scared easy, but there could be extremely unpredictable and sudden frights hidden within the game. The game nails this the best when you explore areas you've already been to, frights now taking place. And you thought you were safe... tisk tisk.

The music suits the tone perfectly, which increased the fright and what not. Unfortunately though, the sounds of zombies and what not can get repetitive and the character voice overs can sound really corny and lame. And also, during the non-cinematic cut scenes the character would constantly wave their hand around in this lame fashion when they spoke, which got old after awhile. The game also has some pretty neat cut scenes, and along with the sinister music and grotesque frights Resident Evil 3 becomes a great game I'd recommend to anyone who owns a play station console - recommend to anyone, at anytime.

Two thumbs up!
