Zero Hour

User Rating: 8.5 | Resident Evil 0 GC
Resident Evil 0 was released exclusively for the gamecube. It has got the same high production values of the Resident Evil remake also on the gamecube. The prerendered backgrounds are full of detail and the characters blend in perfectly which really helps bringing the tension of this horror-surviving game across. Lighting and sound effects are also perfect.
The game plays like previous Resident Evil's with your main character moving slowly through an old mansion and with door-opening animation clips to conceal loading times in between rooms. Personally it didn't bother me too much. The most fun aspect of the game is the exploring and looking for more ammo to kill those zombie-bastards. The story takes place jus before the events of resident evil. anyone who enjoyed that game will also like this one. You play as Rebbecca Chambers, who was a non-playable character in R.E.. During the first part of the game, which takes place in a moving train you meet Billy Coen, who then becomes a second playable character. From then on you can switch between the two at any time you like. You also need to do this to solve some puzzles. The game is a must-play for fans of the R.E. series as you get to know how things got started, but it never becomes as scary and creepy as the original. I found the story also a little bit predictable and that is never a good thing with survival-horror. It's still a great game, though.
