A Great Throwback

When I saw this appear on Xbox Live I almost wept with joy. I remember having this game when I was younger and I loved it, so it makes perfect sense that it would get a re-mastered re-release right? Well the 1st thing you'll notice about the game is the graphics haven't really changed much, and I know that it's a PS2 so of course it's not going to dazzle you with it's graphics, but that's not entirely true. Resident Evil 4 on Xbox Live looks fantastic, you can see that they actually put time into re-mastering it, Rayman HD on the other hand looks basically the same as it did back in the day. On the plus side the game play has barely changed, the game controls well for the most part but occasionally you'll find yourself missing jumps you know you should make or have trouble picking up objects like plums and rocks. It's also worth mentioning that this game is long, it has a lot of worlds to explore each with a good variety of enemies and scenery, you never feel like you're going through the motions while playing. Plus when you beat all the levels you have the mini-games to play which are mostly pretty fun. So far it sounds pretty enticing right? well that's because I haven't mentioned one thing. The camera in this game hates you and wants to see you fail. A number of times I've died while playing because the camera glitches out or gets caught on the scenery and it does get pretty annoying after a while. But if you can bare that then Rayman 3 HD is a great purchase, it has a lot of content, and for me personally a lot of nostalgia too. Definitely worth the 800MS points (which is about £10) despite a few issues with the camera and graphics. It remains faithful to the old game which in the end is probably what you want it for. If you only just discovered Rayman because of Origins then Rayman 3 HD is worth a download, check it out guys.
