Rayman 2: The Great Escape was for me a fun game but it kind of was disappointing. There are games that are great, games that are good and then there are games that are somewhere in between. Rayman 2 falls somewhere in that last category for me. Its not rich and its not poor, but what really keeps it from achieving greatness is the fact that some later levels aren't that interesting, for instance the first half of the game is magical jungles filled with swamps, rivers, caves and forts, then you got the second half of the game witch is mostly made up of dark, grimy, metallic structures. One thing I thought was done very well was the controls, they hold up pretty well today compared to the majority of games back then. Overall a good game. If it would've had a better second half and some more of the stuff that made it so great in the first half maybe it could've been something great.
