Extremely boring.

User Rating: 5 | Ratchet: Deadlocked PS2
I've never played any Ratchet & Clank game before, I don't know what I have to compare with the other R&C games, but this game is very boring and repetitive, and is certainly overrated by its fans.

What seems to be selling this game is the fact that Ratchet & Clank is in it, maybe not so much Clank, but still, that this game is rated this high is laughable. The characters are original and the dialogue is funny, but that's about the only enjoyment I got from this game. The combat is VERY straightforward and VERY repetitive, it doesn't offer any particular variety, or any challenge for that matter. The fact that it's so easy is because it has auto-aim, which I hate.

Now, the controls are okay, but the auto-aim just sucks. I could do good without it., it was absolutely unnecessary to even consider it.
You battle in an arena, gather enough points and bolts from challenges, and then move on to the next planet and do the same thing over and over again.
Is this their idea of variety? Do the same thing but on a very similar planet?

The voice-acting is solid, and the dialogue is funny, the narrator says the craziest things. It makes you wonder why this is where the games strengths lie, when it's obvious that the gameplay could have used some work. The levels are almost the same, and they're very repetitive and very easy, it's not rewarding in any way, except you get awarded by bolts so you can upgrade your weapons and gadgets. This is also an issue, I've been told that Insomniac are crazy weapon designers and make the coolest weapons ever. That's not entirely true, every weapon that are in the game, I've seen in other games, should I have played this game 2 years ago? Maybe, but right now, the weapons are fairly standard and they suffer from minor lack in variety.

The graphics are bland and looks boring. The cutscenes looks tons better than the actual gameplay, which is somewhat disappointing. Of course, almost every cutscene is games look better than actual gameplay, but in this case the graphics are so different from gameplay to cutscene. It goes from ugly to good.

I don't know what more to say, It could have used some work, It's not the worst game ever, it's just a very "meh" game. Maybe jumping from platforming to repetitive shooting wasn't the best idea ever. Oh wait, they have fans, that's right, fans buy Ratchet games. But once you get passed the games originality in characters you will realise this is a tedious, repetitive game only recommended for kids.
