Heading downhill from here.

User Rating: 7.1 | Ratchet & Clank 3 (Platinum) PS2

By now everyone has Grown to love the Ultimate duo, Ratchet and Clank.
Now in their third outing we some new revolutionary things being brought to the Ratchet and Clank universe, but i believe it was poorly executed

In the last two games we saw R&C fighting their way through Drek, Quark and the protopet. This time around "Insomniac" have gone for a different approach and kinda made the game more about Quark.
At the begining of the game you are sent to a jungle planet to find this huge super hero, who has gone missing and is in this Jungle. The "hero" turns out to be Quark but he's forgot his memory. You bring him to this huge ship which then becomes you living quarters and it is really amazing to see.

In this ship, the "starship Phoenix" you have everything you need.

You have your own quarters to stay in:-

*In here you can play video games ( quark vid-comics), these help Quark
get his memory back and are quite fun to play.

* There is also a place where Qwark stays and so does his little funky
monkey, Skrunch (who was found with Quark in the Jungle).

Around the ship there is:-

* A trophy room were you get trophies for completing certain tasks or just
for finding them in the battlefield. These look cool to view and once you've
got them all you unlock the "Insomniac museum", which is very fun to look
around.

* A training facility where uou test your skills and complete tasks.
Nothing that special.

* A place to get an armour upgrade.
As you progress through the game you unlock different armours to buy,
these just increase the amount of damage you can take and look stylish.
The best armour you can get on R&C3 is the "Infernox" armour, with this
armour your wrench gets greater experience and does a hell of a lot of
work on those pathetic enemies. But the armour is pricey at 1,000,000
bolts, but it's worth it.

* There is also a place to get weapons but these are found all across the
universe and all you do is buy more weapons or ammo.

* The captains bridge is also available, here you see a lot of people and
ends up being the place you meet to start some missions when your in
the "Q-force".

* Your ship is also in here so you can go off to any other planet or tune up
your ship so it looks all fancy and cool.

After a while, when Quark has gotten his memory back, you realise what is
really going on. Dr. Nefarious is planning to turn the entire universe into robots because he got turned into one when he was younger and it was Quarks fault. (play the Quark Vid-comics to straighten out any questions)

So he steals "agent Clank" ( clank has got his own t.v show) and replaced him with an evil one to spy on what everyone was doing.
Quark then starts the Q-force and you and many other friends, who you have met on your journey through all 3 of these games, attempt to stop the evil Dr. Nefarious.

It all unwinds and you become engaged in this funny story line of twists and turns that make you wonder what the hell Insomniac were thinking (in a good way).

Weapons & Gadgets

* weapons, why change my weapons?

Just like in the last R&C you collect bolts buy your weapons and are able
to gain experience with them to make them more powerful. Well, in this
R&C they have change the weapons a bit and i don't like it.
The RYNO for example, in the older games this was a totally unstoppable
piece of kit but now once you have gotten it upgraded the furthest it
becomes the RYNOCILATOR. This isn't unstoppable and I find pathetic.
Although not all weapons are like this, that was just one example, most
of the weapons are pretty awesome and are really fun to play with.

* Gadgets

In R&C3 there are the older gadgets and not many new ones, they all
seem to do pretty much the same as in the first game. The Gadgets didn't
seem to be HUGE in this game but you DID have to use them to crack
through door and more.

As like in the second R&C there are the Arena where you can go for a little scrap. In here you can fight for bolts or you might have to compete to win a gadget or vid-comic that you need.
The arena has been changed with their now being a gauntlet to go around and the Huge arena to just destroy everything in. It seems improved and i find it a lot more fun to have a fight in than the last R&C.

Something new to the game was the "galactic soldiers" and their missions.
With these mission you'd have to capture a certain place or kill all the enemies in the map. But with these you get some friends to help you along the way, the "galactic soldiers". they don't do much but do kill a few of the enemies and are pretty funny to listen to. These missions don't only have you on foot but you get to go in vehicles like buggies and hover ships which makes a change.

The main thing it seems Insomniac have focused on with this instalment of the R&C series is the "Online mode". Here, if you have online, you get compete again friends or foes over the web and show them how good/bad you are. There are special modes built for online like capture the nodes or just plain deathmatch and these can also be played out with a friend not online. The online is a good step forward for Insomniac but if you don't have online then you can't experience the full potential of the game and that's what let it down. Online is brilliant but it seems they focused mainly on this and not the story, the story is good but gameplay isn't as good as it could be, it hasn't improved.

Overall the game hasn't much changed with some new things added it should be better but it isn't. It feels like a "kiddies" game when the others didn't, it's TOO easy. I feel that "insomniac" have let themselves down and haven't giving the fans of the older games what they wanted.

This is brilliant game with some slight errors that Insomniac could of easily slid past. I think they need to try harder next time and get a game out for the fans.
Buy it if your a fan of the series but buy the first two if you want to get into this series.
Not a great platformer, but still funny.
