Size really does matter, and this is too small!

The title says it all. Size matters, and in taking the Ratchet and Clank series to the PSP, too many aspects of the game suffered. I loved all the titles on the PS2, but this version just doesn't make the cut.

The cut scenes were great, but during gameplay the visuals were jagged and one dimensional. The PSP was unable to really portray the range that you need to get a handle on the mechanics of Ratchet's arsenal. Too often enemies surrounded you and with the buggy camera and controls, it was impossible to put your weapons to good use. Most of the minigames, such as Giant Clank, racing on jetboards, or the Clank Basketball were too dismal to make it worth playing through the title again.

The one aspect of Ratchet and Clank that has always pulled me in is the evolving weapons. They're here in this title too, but again, they're just not as much fun to use because of the camera and controls. It's not an entirely meritless adventure, but I can't recommend that you spend your time on it with all of the other great titles out there.
