Fantastic transition, minus a few too many niggly things

User Rating: 8 | Ratchet & Clank Collection PS3
Let me start off by making it clear, I love the three Ratchet and Clank, and because this is a collection of the games, I'm obviously loving it, but because the trilogy has next to nothing original added, I'm not going to review the games, but the transition from PS2 to PS3.

For the most part it's done very well, the graphics are generally great, the characters voices are all in sync, the weapons work correctly, the enemies are mostly all as they should be, and the worlds look fantastic, this is what warrants the score I gave it. Oh, not to mention finally I can play online with a wireless connection, something I could never do on the PS3

Now for the niggles, I haven't found anything particularly off, but there were a few odd things, particularly in the 2nd and 3rd games

- In Ratchet and Clank 2 the communication screens have the character rather too zoomed out

- In Ratchet and Clank 2 Mr Fizzwidget Robot at the MegaCorp armoury doesn't give his speech at each bomb, before moving on

- In Ratchet and Clank 3 the start button doesn't resume the game if you're on the start menu

- In Ratchet and Clank 3, the sound effects that go with the ship flying are in an incorrect sequence

- In Ratchet and Clank 3, the loading time between the ship flying in and landing, and between the Quark vid-comic loading screen, and the cut scene is slower than the PS2 versions

- In Ratchet and Clank 3, the clip which occurs on the start menu if you leave it too long has been cut

- Trophies seem to award the same things as skill points, with few trophies devoted to progress in the story.

- Cut scenes and Cinematics haven't been adapted for widescreen viewing, neither have the start screens for 2 and 3

- At Holistar studios there's an odd periods where the screen goes a pinky beige sort of colour when you try and aim, and after you teleport.

- The battle with captain Blackstar during the bonus quark comic at the Insomniac museum doesn't work.

But all in all, I love this trilogy, love the games, love their transition.
