A perfect port of a perfect arcade series.
Graphics- While they are noticeably dated, keep in mind these games came out over 10 years ago, when the N64 was the current generation system. These graphics are 2D shmup bliss, and by no means push the Xbox 360. It would have been nice to see an option for 3D graphics, but it would hardly change anything.
Sound- Loud, in-your-face techno that accompanies the game well. Nothing soundtrack worthy, but it gets the job done.
Gameplay- Think of a really fast Galaga or 1942 with crazy weapons. That describes Raiden Fighters almost perfectly. This is where the game really shines and it will almost never get boring. Plus the games are difficult so mastering them will take a lot of time. And, if you want to go the extra mile, try going for the achievements. Getting 1000/1000 on this game is worthy of a medal.
Replay Value- One of the games few weaknesses. All three games are very short and you can put on infinite continues, so you could easily beat all 3 in an hour. If you are going for score or trying to beat the games on harder difficulties though, it will last you as long as you want.
Cons- Not many here. Co-op through XBL would make this game a 10/10, but that is really my only complaint. Updated graphics would be a smart idea to try to lure in new players, but the old graphics are fine for me.
Overall- This game is near perfection. For only $20, this is the deal of the century. Make sure to grab it before it becomes hard to find!
