One of the worst games of 2010.
...It wasn't. There are so many bad things about the game, I don't even know where to begin.
#1: Let's start off with the story in the campaign: Right from the get-go, you can tell that they didn't put much thought into it. The opening scene is too dark to see much, poorly voice-acted, and just *doesn't look good*. It starts off as some generic mission where you have to rescue some allied Colonel from the Germans at this castle. Which leads me to my next point...
#2: The controls in the game don't make any sense. I was able to beat the first mission, but I couldn't tell you what I did to *do* it, because whether I wanted them to or not, my units just seemed to move wherever the hell they wanted, regardless of whether I tried to move them there, or not. I spent the better part of ten minutes trying to move a bunch of my tanks toward the German-held town and to get the massive air force that I'd been given, to attack their bunkers, but no matter how many times I ordered them forward, they never seemed to move. Very frustrating.
#3: It's an ugly game. No matter how far or close up to your troops you are, they just look really blocky and inanimate. I would expect this on the Wii or on a PC, but for an X-Box 360 or a PS3? No.
#3: If you think multiplayer is any better, I'm sorry to say that it's not. Nobody ever plays online so there's nobody to even *have* matches with, and on top of that, there's even more confusing features and controls in 'Free Mode' and on Live.
~What You Should Take Away From This~:
...Ruse is not a good game. It's very far from what a finished product should be, and even if you payed 15 bucks for a used copy like I did, you'll feel almost like you were robbed. What I would suggest, is just save up for Tropico 3 or one of the 'Total War' games, if you want a great strategy gaming experience. Thanks!
