Be a Movie or Be a Game, you can't be both! Im talking to you "Quantum Break!"

User Rating: 6 | Quantum Break PC

The story is your typical "back to the future/past" time machine type movie. A scientist builds a time machine and his brother has to go back in time to save him from dying blablabal whilst some evil organization is interested in taking over the world with the help of this technology. Sounds familiar? Yes!, because its every Sci-Fi Time flick ever made. You play as the brother of the scientist who designed the machine. Your brother has a partner who turned into a greedy megalomaniac and decided to betray your brother and join an evil organization in order to take over the world. Thats the story! The End. The story starts after you exit the time machine causing somekind of glitch leading you to have superpowers!

The Good things:

The graphics and architecture are amazing. They still hold up in 2020. Its really a beautiful game!

They hired some B list actors to feature as the main characters in the game. They really spent a lot of money making it as high end as possible. Its looks like a very polished over the top game.

The enemies and combat gameplay makes you feel like a superhero who is able to control time. The graphics and visuals during combat are stunning.

The Bad things:

Get ready to spend hours watching cutscenes. The cutscenes are divided between live movies and animated movies. The cutscenes are every 5-10minutes, they simply hamper the gameplay causing people like me to get pissed. I want to shoot soldiers, not watch netflix! I checked on youtube, it has a total of 3-4 hours of "movies/clips/cutscenes".

They offered the player a choice to change the outcome of the story, but it barely changes anything. (no new levels, no replayability). Choosing an alternative road, opens up more dialogue, nothing more!

The game is really really short. If you remove the movies its about 4 hours tops.

The story is generic and uninteresting. If you want a good "time travel story" watch the german tv show "dark" instead!

6 guns to choose from and a total of 5 enemy types. The game has 2 bosses and thats it. There isn't much variety.

Finding secrets and upgrading your powers its uninteresting. You can't customize a build, and the upgrades really don't change any of your superpowers. They maybe extend some of the spells for a bit longer, but nothing drastic. There isn't really a point in trying to find "upgrade anomalies".

The game feels really easy... The only challenge was the final boss, but its because of some stupid orange floor mechanic. Basically, the game feels too easy, and when its hard its because of bad game design!

In conclusion, don't buy it, just download it.. I seriously think they overpaid for something that ended up mediocre. The best way to compare it, its like a mediocre guitar player buying a high end guitar.. it doesn't matter how good the instrument sounds if he's a shitty player. Thats what Quantum Break is.. a high end instrument in the hands of an amateur musician.
