I thought this was an underated and somewhat overlooked game. I bought this at a bargain price and was super impressed with the fact that it came with a bonus copy of Quake 2(an awesome game), which I did not already have. Quake four does have some issues there's no doubt and when you consider that this is Quake and all of the previous games were highly regarded its easy to expect big things. Quake 4 isn't the next great thing in the quake line. Its just a decent game that you can have some fun with. The graphics though not bad seemed very run of the mill. Slow down became a serious concern during several parts of the game. The game set good atmosphere at times and then at other times it felt bland and un-noteworthy. Only one scene truly stands out in my memory. Load times were somewhat slow too. The weapons available were the standard fare, but they worked fine and were fairly satisfying to use. There is a nice variety of enemies and some decent boss encounters. The music was decent though not as good as quake games of the past. The controls did what they were supposed to do and were of the classic fps variety. The story continued with those of the past, but it wasn't all that interesting. The strogg still stand as intriquing foes to deal with. I can't deny that I had some fun with this game and wouldn't mind revisiting it someday.
Final Thought: Not the best Quake has to offer. A worthy first person shooter to satisfy the action/sci-fi junkie who needs a fix.
