Customizable ATVs, exciting race tracks, and to top it all off, breathtaking tricks that ignite a sense of vertigo.

User Rating: 8.5 | Pure PS3
"Pure" is one of the finest ATV racing games out there. Unlock ATV parts by scoring high in racing events, build your own ride in the garage - name your creation, and go tear up the tracks with 15 other racers in various courses around the world.

Even if you don't particularly like ATVs or even know anything about them, you will still enjoy this game, as I did. In "Pure", the controls are precise and responsive, the animations are done really well (except for the character animations, which are a bit stiff during certain times, but it's a petty complaint - this is an ATV racing game after all), and the environments are beautiful and vibrant with details, from the flowers on the ground to distant mountain ranges, it all looks believable. Of course, you'll be busy driving your ATV to notice those things right away, but it's a great graphical touch that makes the world around you feel real.

The ATV driving and handling plays just as you would imagine it to play. Your character's shirt flaps in the wind, mud splatters up on the ATV, and when you take a spill on the track, it looks like it hurts. The jumps in "Pure" are absolutely outrageous and impossible to say the least, but this is a video game, and anything is possible - and so there's a reason when the game starts up that a screen appears and explains that the stunts that happen in the game are fictional and should not be attempted in real life. Well obviously; who wants to go flying off of a jump only to find yourself about a hundred feet above the ground with nothing but an ATV to support your fall? Yeah, but in the game, it's 'pure' fun to pull amazing tricks in the air like that.

So to wrap this up, Pure is a fun ATV racer that lets you compete in a World Tour mode where you can compete in long races, sprint races, and pull off tricks and rack up the most points before your gas tank empties. Not to mention the highly customizable 'garage' where you can build your own ATV from the ground up with hundreds of different parts to choose from. And the ATVs look amazing and you'll feel proud of your creations and want to take them out on the tracks. Another thing - you can't create your own character in Pure, but you can choose from a selection of existing characters that each have different outfits to wear, whether you pick a male or female rider. Overall, Pure is worth the $13 at GameStop and is worth keeping in your game library.
