User Rating: 8.2 | Psychic Force 2012 DC
Psychic Force 2012 is a 3D fighting game where players battle while suspended in air within an enclosed area. With some disturbing controls and extremely hard AI, you'll want to try and stick with easier difficulties for a long while to get really good at it. Characters fight with a close range combo, small and large projectiles, grabs, and seperately unique special attacks. The game introduces simple yet unique gameplay, with a variety of unique characters. Psychic Force 2012 is worth playing, but it kinda takes an otaku to truly like it. The fact you're suspended in air using psychic powers to fight is quite fun, and a good concept. However, there are some disturbing flaws to this game's controls and AI. Let's say you're on the left and your enemy is on the right, you can quickly press left, right, and x to use a certain attack, but let's say you've up and the enemy's down, you'd have to press up,down, and x to perform the same move. This isn't confusing until you include diagonals and the fact that many different moves have very similar combinations. Another flaw is the fact that on higher difficulties, there comes a point when the enemies are completely impossible to beat. No matter what kind of move you choose to use, the enemies WILL find a way to still hit you. Besides these two aspects, if you keep the difficulty at a fair setting, you won't be so paranoid over trying to get certain moves right. This will create a very fun game for you to play, with it's unique concepts that no other game really incorporates. The sound and graphics of this game are quite good. The characters follow their respective anime styles and perform very nice looking motions for what the Dreamcast can handle. As for music, each character has a unique fighting theme bgm you will fight to, and they never get in the way, so either you don't care or you actually enjoy the music in the game. The overall concept of this game is quite the thrill ride. Even with it's difficulty and controls, you can still find great things about this game. As it isn't really intended to be played as much as other games, it can still get quite addicting at times. Probably the main influence to grab a player's attention is the anime style it runs off of, making the most likely players somewhat of an otaku.
